2026 has 365 days. Every listed holiday below lands on a weekday, so all 11 come out of the Monday-to-Friday count. A 5-day week is 40 hours at 8 hours a day: 52 weeks × 40 = 2,080 is the round figure you often see, and the count above differs because the year has a little over 52 weeks.

How many hours are in a month?
A day has 24 hours, so a month has 24 times its number of days. Months are not all the same length, so the answer depends on the month.

Averaged over a common year, a month is 365 ÷ 12 ≈ 30.42 days, or 730 hours (8,760 ÷ 12).

The weeks, days, hours and working-day counts are calendar arithmetic (days in a month, a 7-day week, Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day). Only the holiday dates come from a published list.

52 weeks plus one extra day in a common year (365 ÷ 7 = 52.14) and two extra days in a leap year (366 ÷ 7 = 52.29). 52 weeks is only 364 days.
Counting Monday to Friday, 261 in 2026 and 261 in 2027. Taking out the 11 holidays on OPM’s list leaves 250 in 2026 and 250 in 2027, because every one of those holidays lands on a weekday in both years.
A work week is five days, Monday to Friday. A year has 52 full weeks, so 52 work weeks plus a day or two. Taking out holidays and time off shortens that, and your own schedule decides by how much.
At 8 hours a day, 2,088 before holidays in 2026 and 2,000 after the 11 holidays on OPM’s list. 2027 comes out the same: 2,088 and 2,000. The round 2,080 you may see is 52 weeks × 40 hours.
It depends on the month: 24 times its days, so 672 in a 28-day February, 696 in a leap-year February, 720 in a 30-day month and 744 in a 31-day month. Averaged over a common year it is 730 hours.
